2022 D&I Virtual Learning Series: Building a Foundation of Inclusivity Through Cultural Humility

Thursday, October 20, 2022 (8:30 AM - 10:00 AM) (EDT)

Description

Continuing the Conversation: Culture Creation
The Buffalo Niagara Partnership is committed to providing learning opportunities that will assist in building stronger, more inclusive environments. This Virtual Learning Series (VLS) is designed for employers and individuals who are at a turning point in their journey to create equitable workplaces. It is essential learning for anyone who is focused on creating a strong D&I culture. Featuring locally recognized diversity and inclusion experts, each session in this 3-part series builds upon one another to provide strategies you can use in your D&I work. Act on your corporate commitment to D&I by first creating a foundation of inclusivity through understanding and practicing cultural humility. Then, build a framework for a strong corporate culture by encouraging meaningful and critical conversations that will benefit the entire organizational structure. Finally, learn how inspecting your organization through a cultural assessment can empower you to keep the conversation flowing and make informed decisions.

This event has been postponed from October 6th to October 20th

8:30am - 10am

In order to build a foundation of inclusivity, you must have knowledge and awareness of cultural humility. Cultural humility is a practice of self-reflection. Your understanding of other cultural identities creates improved relationships and builds an openness to others in a way that improves outcomes, eliminates disparities, and helps eliminate implicit biases that lie within. In this session, you’ll learn how the importance of respect for people's culture and background is the foundation for belonging and will allow you to become a true ally in D&I work.
