SUNY Internship Info Session
Thursday, June 18, 2026 (12:30 PM - 1:00 PM) (EDT)
Description
A new partnership between the Buffalo Niagara Partnership and the State University of New York (SUNY) is designed to strengthen the future workforce across the Buffalo Niagara region by helping employers expand their existing internship programs or create a new one. This free webinar will provide an overview of this new partnership and outline how to develop or expand your organization's internship opportunities.
Program overview
Brandon Aldous, Director of Internships and Employer Partnerships, and Fiona Quintana, Regional Internship Coordinator for the Western New York region, from SUNY System Administration and Chelsea McCann, the BNP's Director of of Workforce Innovation, will lead a discussion on the supports SUNY can provide to employers, as well as the benefits of working together with higher education institutions such as the University at Buffalo, Buffalo State University and SUNY Erie to identify quality internship candidates. There will also be time for questions and open discussion.
About SUNY Internship Program
Through this collaboration, SUNY and the BNP are working together to connect employers across the region with talented SUNY students for employer-paid internship opportunities, while elevating awareness of career pathways across key industries including but not limited to healthcare, banking and digital media.
This partnership is designed to:
- Help employers address current and future workforce needs
- Create a more streamlined connection between BNP members and SUNY campuses
- Build a scalable pipeline of early talent across the Buffalo-Niagara region
- Introduce students to meaningful careers through hands-on experience
- Cultivate high-impact, employer-paid, in-person internship experiences across BNP’s membership
As part of this effort, the BNP is encouraging its members to participate in building this pipeline, with a collective goal of expanding paid internship opportunities for SUNY students across the region.
SUNY will support this work by promoting opportunities to students across the Buffalo Niagara region, assisting employers with internship development and helping organizations connect with campuses and candidates through tools like Handshake (where most students find their internship and job opportunities) and other campus-based employer portals. Whether you’re looking to expand an existing internship program or start from scratch, SUNY experts can guide you along the way.
