Understanding New York State’s Secure Choice Savings Program

Gov. Kathy Hochul recently announced the launch of the New York State Secure Choice Savings Program, a state-sponsored retirement savings vehicle designed to help private-sector employees build long-term financial security.
Under this new program, eligible employers are now required to register and facilitate their employees’ participation if they meet all of the following criteria:
- Had at least 10 employees in the previous calendar year
- Have been in business for at least two years
- Do not offer a qualified retirement plan
To help local employers prepare for this new and significant policy, the BNP is hosting an informational session to share insights on how the Secure Choice program will impact businesses, what compliance looks like in practice and what steps employers can take now to be ready.
