Red Cross Sound the Alarm In-Home Fire Safety Event

Saturday, May 2, 2026 (8:30 AM - 2:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

American Red Cross

Help the American Red Cross make households safer across Western New York!

Home fires claim seven lives every day. As a responder to these tragedies, the Red Cross sees hope in the form of a simple device - the smoke alarm - which can cut the risk of death by half. That’s why the American Red Cross is rallying volunteers together to help make our communities safer through our Sound the Alarm initiative.

Join us Saturday, May 2nd, for a rewarding day installing free smoke alarms, creating escape plans, and sharing fire safety information with those in the Buffalo community who need our help the most. Your team, which includes an experienced Red Crosser, will travel to up to five homes, ensuring that families have the critical resources they need to keep them safe. No prior experience is necessary; a training session on the day of the event which will be held rain or shine. Corporate event sponsorships are also available.

To volunteer or help fund this life saving initiative visit SoundtheAlarm.org/WNY.

Thank you for supporting the Red Cross mission and stepping up to volunteer in your community.
